Hackett Building Adaptive Reuse

Project Name:

HACKETT BUILDING ADAPTIVE REUSE

Program:

New office over retail/restaurant in existing brick shell.

Description:

This project proposed the adaptive reuse of an older brick building downtown core, inserting a ground floor retail space, parking garage, and second floor office into the brick shell of the vacant former auto garage.

The retail space is envisioned as a restaurant with south-facing covered outdoor dining. Wood storefront doors and a cast iron and wood railing system add warmth and texture to the ground floor. The second floor office features a separate lobby entry, and is clad in lightweight composite aluminum panels to differentiate it from the historic brick structure below.
