Project Name:
SAN JOSE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Program:
Exterior rehabiliation/renovation of City of San Jose Historic Landmark building.
Description:
Originally built in 1942, the San Jose National Bank Building at 101 W. Santa Clara Street features an Art Deco style and a monumentality befitting its prominent site at Market and Santa Clara. Damaged and cracked plaster was repaired throughout, historically inappropriate awnings were removed and replaced, and light fixtures were restored. A new frameless glass storefront entry was inserted, and the historic windows were repainted and repaired.
Finally, a stately new multi-colored paint scheme was developed to reinforce the civic character of the building’s new use, and to highlight its Art Deco detailing.
