South City Lofts

Project Name:

SOUTH CITY LOFTS

Program:

52 flats and loft townhouses over retail and parking.

Description:

A unique two-parcel development joined by a bridge across a narrow service alley, this mixed use project presented multiple design challenges and opportunities.

The existing brick façade of the former bank building along commercial Grand Avenue is preserved, its massive arched wall forming a solid visual base for the three floors of units above and three distinct storefront entries for retail tenants. The units are a mix of 1 bedroom flats and 2 bedroom lofts, all accessed off a landscaped courtyard with semi-private stairs and entry alcoves. Each unit features one or more private outdoor spaces and high ceiling spaces with tall windows to bring in the fine light that this area enjoys.
