Cunningham/Fee Residence

Project Name:

CUNNINGHAM/FEE RESIDENCE

Program:

New 3900 s.f. two story home on hillside view site.

Description:

The clients’ interest in Prairie Style architecture and local planning regulations limiting the height of two-story homes gave Studio S Squared the opportunity to explore a modern interpretation of the style originated by the great Frank Lloyd Wright.

The house presents a formal front elevation to the public, with a private office, walk-in closet, and stair providing privacy from the street. In contrast, the rear of the house features large window and door openings to capture the dramatic view, asymmetrical massing, and an informal arrangement of the primary living spaces.

The design incorporates green features such as solar hot water panels, rainwater collection systems, photovoltaics, and passive solar design into the house without compromising the aesthetics.
